Start with the event you want to explain. Each arrow needs a reason; happening earlier alone does not establish a cause.

Start with a science example

Two original classroom starting points. Both layouts remain editable.

Adapt the examples to the conditions and evidence in your lesson. References: NOAA: the hydrologic cycle and NOAA: condensation on a cold glass.

Make each arrow meaningful

  1. Use a branching map for several causes or effects around one event. Choose an event chain for a linked sequence.
  2. Write specific statements and explain how one could produce the next. Add observations or sources from your lesson.
  3. Review the filled model. Switch to Blank worksheet for students, then download or print the selected version.

Before you export

What does the blank worksheet hide?

It hides every cause, effect, chain step and relationship explanation. Your title, question, classroom and central event remain as teaching prompts. The selected layout, numbered cards and arrows remain. Hiding answers never deletes your entries.

Will switching layouts lose my work?

No. The map and chain keep separate cards. Switching only changes the preview. Loading an example or starting blank replaces both layouts after a confirmation when you have edited them.

Does the tool establish that a relationship is causal?

No. It arranges the statements and explanations you enter. A sequence or arrow does not prove causation. Check mechanisms, conditions, alternatives and evidence with your class.

Which export should I use?

SVG scales cleanly and retains text for compatible editors. PNG works in slides and documents. Print / Save as PDF uses your browser; choose A4 or US Letter and check the preview. Editing and exports require no account, credits or watermark.
